The project “Women and Sport under Francoism: Images, Voices, Dissidences”, part of the research project “Football and Visual Culture under Francoism” (PID2020-116277GA-I00), is organising an open presentation event at La Bonne on 15 November at 12:00 p.m. The programme will include a presentation of the project, an explanation of the working process of the artistic collectives doneSSonores and nucbeade, and performances by both groups.

doneSSonores, a collective working within the framework of La Bonne, will present at 1:00 p.m. the immersive performance “Autòpsia Sonora” (Sound Autopsy), which explores the relationship between women and sport during the Francoist period through a sound-based experience. Please note that participants are required to bring their own headphones for this activity.

The collective nucbeade will present its piece “Alegre Camaradería” (Joyful Comradeship), a performance based on a board game in which participants will play as if they were members of a sports club during the Franco regime. As places for this part of the event are limited, advance registration is required via this form, selecting one of the two sessions: 4:00 p.m. or 6:30 p.m.

INFORMATION AND REGISTRATION

Using archival material, doneSSonores invites participants to a reflective listening experience on how the media of the time constructed narratives about the female body and women’s roles in sport. The activity includes testimonies from women of that era as well as contemporary athletes and journalists sharing their personal experiences. This sound-based proposal aims to create a participatory space structured as if it were a playing field, inviting the audience to reflect on how these discourses might be reimagined.

The collective nucbeade presents Alegre Camaradería. A Game of Historical Fantasy, Muscles, and Queer Rage, a performative action combining mechanics from both strategy board games and role-playing games. Each session, set in Spain between 1938 and 1943, invites the players to embody members of a Secret Sports Club whose mission is to collaborate in the “queering” of spaces belonging to the Regime—while, of course, a group of high-ranking Francoist officials keeps a watchful eye on their every move.
