L'Escrita, una lliçó de Perejaume

In the exceptional year of 2020, the Association of Friends of the Haas Library agreed to grant a Javier & Marta Villavecchia Fellowship to the poet and artist Perejaume, one of the most original contemporary creators. His project consisted in linking the arts and the university, nature and books, in a performative lecture called L'Escrita, which wonders how to deposit a text in the Library of the Water Tower at the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, which is known as the Dipòsit de les Aigües.

L'Escrita is a Pyrenean river, a tributary of the Noguera Pallaresa, and its name is the gateway to a poetic monologue that, interpreted by the poet himself accompanied by the voices, recited or sung, of Sílvia Bel, Neus Borrell, Sergi Castellà, and Arnau Obiols, is also the text that was read on June 10th, 2022, at the UPF Library, on the occasion of the IX Alois Maria Haas Lectures.

In 2024, in collaboration with La Casa dels Clàssics, the Center for Aesthetics, Religion, and Contemporary Culture schedules a new reading of L'Escrita, as the closing session of the Performing the Lecture cycle and as part of the activities of the Festival dels Clàssics. The writing of water and the impossibility of fixing its discourses find a framework within the Dipòsit de les Aigües, a space flooded by the written word.
