Perfoming the Lecture Cycle

Performing the Lecture is a cycle of public events hosted by the Centre for Aesthetics, Religion, and Contemporary Culture. The cycle brings together artists, scholars, and performers to plumb the creative potential of the lecture.
Performing the Lecture showcases four experimental lectures, written by distinguished contemporary poets, dramaturgs, and scholars, and staged in collaboration with internationally recognised artists. Each lecture is followed by a public conversation exploring the idea of the lecture as performance and the potential for collaboration and exchange between artists and scholars in contemporary critical culture.
The cycle is part of the Fundació Joan Miró-UPF Chair and takes place thanks to the complicity and involvement of several institutions, in addition to Pompeu Fabra University. The Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona hosts the inaugural session, Possessive Used as Drink (Me) (30.09), and incorporates Dancing Philosophy into the program of the Biennal de Pensament (13.10). L'Escrita is organized jointly with La Casa dels Clàssics as part of the Festival Clàssics (TBD).
This cycle is directed by Elizabeth Sarah Coles, Amador Vega, and Sergi Castellà (UPF), and is financed by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie research project ‘The Other Post-Criticism’, led by Elizabeth Sarah Coles and funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement no. 887344.
