On April 25th, the Catalan Audiovisual Cluster presented the Switch Report: Augmented Audiovisuals at the Pompeu Fabra University. The event was hosted in collaboration with the Futurs of Communication Chair.

Born from the Switch newsletter, a bi-monthly publication of the Cluster, the report analyzes in detail the trends and technologies that are already shaping the audiovisual sector, based on three technological categories: artificial intelligence (AI), immersive audiovisuals, and Web 3.0.

The presentation began with the speech of the President of the Catalan Audiovisual Cluster, Miquel Rutllant, who highlighted the importance of audiovisuals in the future of communication, and the need to have an updated and complete vision of the sector to address the challenges it presents, emphasizing the need for forward-looking initiatives to build the future. The Switch Report: Augmented Audiovisuals is a valuable tool for training and research, helping to stay up-to-date with the new realities of the audiovisual sector. The complete report can be downloaded from the Cluster's website.

Next, Joan Rosés, editor of the Switch Report, highlighted the structure and content of the document, which includes more than 300 companies, success stories, and local and international experiences. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about some of the examples cited in the document and share some relevant examples.

The presentation included a roundtable moderated by Joan Rosés, with four experts in artificial intelligence and creativity: Ramon López de Mántaras, Karina Gibert, Lluís Nacenta, and Anna Giralt Gris. In the debate, the need for the audiovisual sector to be aware of the responsibility that comes with its frenetic growth and its consequences at various levels, especially in the field of authorship, ethics, and data regulation, was highlighted.

The event concluded with the participation of the Cluster Manager, Eduard Gil, who emphasized the relevance of this study to understand the changes taking place in the sector. One of the valuable conclusions of the event is the need to work on foresight exercises to have tools to anticipate and build a successful future for the audiovisual and communication sector.
