The Catalan Association of Journalists has become the sixteenth partner of the Chair in Futures of Communication, a joint initiative of the Department and the Faculty of Communication at Pompeu Fabra University. This addition strengthens the Chair's research commitment, at the forefront of transformations in the field of communication.

Having the Catalan Association of Journalists as a partner of the Chair, an entity with a long history of association that brings together professionals in the field since 1985, allows for the inclusion of a diverse representation of the journalist community. Journalism, as a professional collective, as an academic discipline, and as a profession, is one of the elements that the Chair studies and does forward-looking research on, in an attempt to understand and anticipate transitions in the media ecosystem. This collaboration will foster the establishment of synergies between the interests of the Association, represented in the different active working groups, and the lines of research on the future of communication conducted by the Chair.

The Chair in Futures of Communication, established last year, aims to study the horizons that are emerging in the field of communication from the discipline of Futures Studies. With a broad view of communication services, the Chair focuses on industry changes, future challenges, and ethical aspects related to technological transformations, such as the use of artificial intelligence, especially in the media and journalistic context, where the Chair has initiated various research projects.
