Leire Morrás Aranoa has a doctorate in Sciences of Antiquity from the University of the Basque Country/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea. Previously, she graduated in Classical Philology and completed a master's degree on the Classical World at the same university. Her main interests are animal ethics and Greek philosophy. Her doctoral thesis, titled “Animality and the status of animals in Porphyry of Tyre’s treatise De abstinentia” is a critical reading of the Greek text focused on the relationships between species and the moral status of animals.

She is currently a postdoctoral researcher with an INVESTIGO contract at Pompeu Fabra University, where she is part of the CritiCC research group and the COMPASS project (Lobbying and Compassion. Interest groups, discourse and nonhuman animals in Spain).
