As a general principle, the Library accepts donations of documents that are in good condition, are of interest for the teaching and research undertaken at the University and which do not fall into any of the categories outlined below:

• Duplicate documents, which are already part of the UPF collection.
• Documents in poor condition.
• Documents which are not appropriate academically for a university library.
• Documents that cover subjects not contemplated at UPF.
• Documents whose content is obsolete, having been updated in subsequent publications.
• Documentation in obsolete formats (VHS, beta, floppy disk, vinyl records, etc.).
• Series of publications that are incomplete or do not complete the UPF collection.
• Volumes of works that are not complete or do not complete the UPF collection.
• Documents that can be found in electronic format with unrestricted access.
• Unpublished theses or papers.

Consequently, the Library reserves the right not to accept proposals of donations and not to incorporate documents received as donations into its book collection.

If you have any documents that comply with the aforementioned criteria and would like to contribute to expanding the Library’s holdings, you can send them to the information desk of any of the campus libraries or contact any of the libraries by telephone.

In the event that the Library accepts your donation and assuming the volume and characteristics of the donation justifies its acceptance you may continue with the transfer.

At the time of making the donation, you will have to indicate if you would like the documents back which are not incorporated into the collection or if you are happy to leave it to the Library to decide what will happen to them.

The Library undertakes the technical and physical processing of the documents that form part of the donation and which will be incorporated into its collection; in other words, their cataloguing, classification and preparation so that they can be easily located by library users.

Donated documents can be located through the catalogue and are subject to the same conditions as any other document in the Library.

The Library would like to acknowledge those people and entities that collaborate to the expansion of its information resources and express its gratitude for their contribution. For any donated monographic documents, the Library catalogue will display the donor’s name. In all cases, the name of the donating person or entity will be incorporated into the corresponding list of people or entities.
