Andrés de Silva

Professional experience
Andrés, a self-described anglophile, has worked for the three most relevant tiers of government,
first as a junior member of staff to a Member of the European Parliament, Ian Duncan (currently
Lord Duncan of Springbank); later as a policy adviser to a Spanish Member of Parliament in
Madrid; and thirdly as Head of the Office for Institutional Relations of the Catalan Government’s
Department for Foreign Action and Open Government, becoming upon his appointment the
youngest political appointee since the restoration of the Catalan Government.
Since January 2023, he works at Catalonia’s largest employer’s organisation, PIMEC, as Chief of
Staff to the Executive President, overseeing the global strategy and priorities of the institution
and its daily institutional operation. PIMEC, with 146.000 members, is an organisation based in
Barcelona, with a very active presence in Madrid, and a relevant role in Brussels, as the only
economic organisation in Catalonia with a Permanent Delegation to the EU, holding the
vicepresidency of the European SME association, SME United.
Academic background
Global Studies graduate from Universitat Pompeu Fabra, during his Bachelor of Arts, Andrés
studied abroad at The University of Edinburgh’s School of Social and Political Sciences. He holds

Since 2019, Andrés has appeared on multiple British media outlets to discuss political
developments in Spain, among them BBC World, LBC, BBC Radio 4 or BBC Ulster, and
collaborated with Sky News as a political commentator.
He is a full member of the Chief of Staff Association, organisation based in London and New York,
and is a member of the British Embassy Madrid’s Young Leaders Network.
