Yodenis Guirola

Yodenis Guirola, PhD.

Adjunct Professor of Political Theory and Philosophy at the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences, Pompeu Fabra University. PhD in Philosophy (cum laude), specializing in Political Philosophy (Citizenship and Human Rights Program), and a Diploma of Advanced Studies (DEA, a research Master's-level degree) in Ethics, Politics, and Rationality from the University of Barcelona. Postdoctoral Fellow at Sciences Po Law School in Paris. Postgraduate Diploma in Latin American and Caribbean Studies from the Latin American Council of Social Sciences. Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (with honours), studies in Law and specialization in Sociopolitical Theory at Central University of Las Villas in Cuba.

He has been a Visiting Scholar at the Graduate Center and City College of the City University of New York (Political Science Program, under the supervision of Marshall Berman) and at Stony Brook University’s Department of Philosophy, and has conducted independent research over extended periods in the archives of Columbia University in the City of New York. In addition, he has also been a Visiting Fellow at the Latin America and the Caribbean Research Center (CIALC) of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), as well as at the National Academy of Sciences of Buenos Aires, Section of Argentine and Latin American Thought.

Professor Guirola is a founding member of the Ibero-American Association of Practical Philosophy, an Associate Researcher at the Núcleo Práxis de Pesquisa, Educação Popular e Política (University of São Paulo, Brazil), and a professor at the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO). He has taught and conducted research at the University of Barcelona’s Faculty of Philosophy, and has been a professor at the Central University of Las Villas’ Faculty of Social Sciences as well as at schools for Cuban and Venezuelan social workers. He has also been invited as a guest speaker at several international universities, including Saint Louis University's Madrid campus (an American university), Universidad Nacional del Sur (Bahía Blanca, Argentina), Universidad del Cauca (Colombia), Universidad Nacional de Lanús (Argentina), Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos (Mexico), and Université catholique de Louvain (Belgium).

Alongside his academic appointments, he is a professional editor with extensive experience collaborating with Editorial Vicens Vives in Barcelona on educational guides and teaching materials in the social sciences, and he contributes editorially to Praxis Literaria Editions (Brazil) and other editorial and publishing projects.

Professor Guirola has published academic works, texts of social scriticism and literary writing. He has also participated in numerous national and international academic events and iniciatives, including conferences, workshops, seminars, and courses held in person at universities and institutions in Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Portugal, Turkey, the United States, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Spain, and Cuba.
