Invited to visit our project, Camilo R. Ronderos, from Lund University in Sweden, gave the talk "On the instability of processing expressive meaning: A pupillometry study" at the Valence Asymmetries seminar on 16 December, and on 17 December, a special lecture on the use of cognitive pupillometry to study the derivation of meaning. Ronderos is a pioneer in the use of pupillometry for the study of meaning and pragmatic inferences. In his talk, he presented ongoing results from a pupillometry expeirment showing that the processing costs associated with the understanding of expressive adjectives such as 'f*cking' fade over time relative to processing descriptive adjectives. Both the talk at the seminar and the lecture on pupillometry elicited vivid interest from the audience and an engaging discussion.
