First SignON Consortium meeting!

Imatge inicial

At the midway point of the SignON project, members from UPF-TALN and UPF-GTI attended the first SignON Consortium meeting at Tilburg University (The Netherlands) 15th-16th June.

It was an extremely fruitul meeting, where members from all 17 insitutions making up the SignON consortium (plus interpreters) had the opportunity to update each other on the positive progress made so far during the project - and to get to know one another better. The topics of the sessions were on diverse matters such as the SignON application, Sign Language recognition, machine translation, avatar-based Sign Language synthesis, use cases, and ethical matters related to research with the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community.

If you would like to know more about the SignON, its website at provides a great overview of the project.
