We are pleased to announce that Marina Garrote has joined our group as a postdoctoral researcher supported by the Beatriu de Pinós programme (AGAUR). The programme offers competitive three-year postdoctoral contracts to strengthen research capacity in Catalonia.

Marina’s work focuses on the application of algebraic geometry to Phylogenetics and Algebraic Statistics. She studies the geometric and algebraic structure of statistical models, with particular emphasis on questions of identifiability, parameter estimation, model selection, and inference. Her research fits naturally with the group’s interests in modern statistical modelling and the interplay between geometry and statistics.
