Gergely Neu Awarded Prestigious ERC Consolidator Grant

12.12.2025

We are delighted to announce that Gergely Neu has been awarded an ERC Consolidator Grant 2025 by the European Research Council. His project, “Algorithmic Uncertainty Quantification for Learning and Decision Making (AuQUANT)”, will receive €2 million in funding.

ERC Consolidator Grants are among the most competitive research awards in Europe, supporting outstanding researchers in the middle of their careers. This year’s call attracted over 3,000 applications, with only 349 projects selected.

In AuQUANT, Gergely will develop new mathematical foundations for uncertainty quantification in modern AI systems, drawing on recent ideas from algorithmic statistics. The project aims to provide principled tools for assessing the reliability of large-scale learning and decision-making systems, with a particular focus on interactive learning.

The SPML Research Group is proud of this major achievement and warmly congratulates Gergely on this well-deserved recognition.
