Gábor Lugosi has been elected an External Member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (HAS) in the Section of Engineering Sciences, following the decision of the Assembly of Academicians on 7 May 2025.

Election to the Hungarian Academy of Sciences is one of the highest academic distinctions in Hungary, recognizing outstanding and internationally influential scientific contributions. External members are distinguished researchers working abroad whose work has had a major impact on their field and strong ties to Hungarian science.

The newly elected members were officially introduced at the 199th General Assembly of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. With these elections, the Academy now includes 201 external members worldwide.
