UCCELLATORE, CARLO DAVIDE
Carlo Davide Uccellatore is a doctoral researcher in the History of Science at Universitat Pompeu Fabra. A qualified Senior Biologist with a Master’s degree in Biological Science (specializing in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology) from the Università degli Studi di Catania, his research utilizes a practitioner’s perspective to explore the intersection of medical science and Jewish culture in early modern Italy.
His ongoing research synthesizes the study of scientific treatises with the reconstruction of professional and intellectual networks to examine how physician-rabbis acted as cultural mediators in 16th and 17th-century Italy. This methodology explores the social and intellectual integration of these practitioners and the circulation of scientific knowledge across Jewish and Christian boundaries.
He has previously held pre-doctoral research positions at the National Research
Council of Italy (CNR) and at the Department of Chemistry at Bar-Ilan University (Israel).
