The emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) in the media has sparked a profound debate about its application and the ethical implications it entails. Expert Patricia Ventura has addressed these issues from a multidisciplinary perspective, emphasizing the importance of the human factor and the need to ensure transparency in the information ecosystem in a conversation with PhD candidates Marco Díaz (MEDIUM Research Group) and Roger Cuartielles, along with Karma Peiró (POLCOM-GRP).
Patricia Ventura Pocino holds a PhD in Media, Communication, and Culture from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Her extensive experience includes research, dissemination, and training in AI ethics, with notable collaborations with institutions such as RTVE, Prisa Media, and the Catalan Corporation of Audiovisual Media. This book integrates her research and experience, making it an essential guide to understanding the political, social, and cultural impact of AI from a communication perspective.

AI has become a fundamental tool in journalistic processes, facilitating tasks such as automatic transcription, massive data analysis, and content generation. However, according to Ventura, this technology also presents significant challenges, such as the "replacement discourse."
The advancement of AI has forced media outlets to rethink their role in society. The ability to generate news automatically could jeopardize journalism’s credibility if rigorous verification and transparency measures are not implemented. In this regard, Ventura stresses that journalists are essential in providing context to massive amounts of information.
One of the central aspects of the discussion has been the role of ethical codes in integrating AI into journalism. Although large companies have developed their own ethical codes, the author warns that commercial interests often take precedence over journalistic values.
