The rector of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Eulàlia de Nadal, and the director of the consulting firm Ideograma, Antoni Gutiérrez-Rubí, have signed the new agreement that commits both institutions for the next three years. The signing ceremony of the Ideograma - UPF Chair of Political Communication and Democracy held on December 10 included a presentation of the activities carried out over the last three years by the director, Carles Pont; the deputy director, Reinald Besalú; and the coordinator, Aleix Martí.

Durant la seva intervenció, Antoni Gutiérrez-Rubí ha ressaltat la importància de continuar impulsant la recerca en comunicació política i democràcia, amb especial atenció als reptes que presenta la comunicació en l'era digital. Gutiérrez-Rubí ha volgut posar en valor l'esforç i el compromís d'Ideograma amb la universitat pública i ha citat com a exemple la Càtedra Ideograma-UPF. La rectora Eulàlia de Nadal s'ha congratulat de la longeva relació entre Ideograma i la Universitat Pompeu Fabra i ha assegurat que l'estreta dinàmica de cooperació entre l'equip d'investigadors de la UPF i l'equip de consultors d'ideograma és un exemple per a seguir en altres iniciatives de col·laboració públic-privada en el sector universitari. De Nadal ha ressaltat la importància de les temàtiques que estudia la Càtedra, sobretot en aquest moment tan crític en el qual la desinformació i les faules contribueixen a un empobriment del debat públic.

The director of the Chair, Carles Pont, highlighted the intense activity developed, emphasized the impact of the projects carried out in key areas of political communication and thanked the company Ideograma for its commitment to research and knowledge transfer, stating that “the research on credibility of the information we do is strategic to know more and better the mechanisms of disinformation that is affecting the quality of our democracies”. In the same sense, Reinald Besalú highlighted the methodological challenge of carrying out reception studies, but was pleased with the excellent reception in academia of the methodology used for the study of information credibility that the Ideograma-UPF Chair has been applying for the last six years.
