Academic Committee
The Postgraduate and Doctorate Academic Committee (CAPiD) is the departmental body responsible for defining, updating, and ensuring the quality and coordination of the doctoral program, as well as overseeing the progress of each doctoral student’s research and training. Its duties and internal organization are governed by the UPF Doctoral School Regulations (resolution of the Board of Governors dated July 13, 2011, and amended by the resolution of March 20, 2013).
The Committee meets on a monthly basis. Some of its most important responsibilities include:

Appointing or changing a doctoral student’s thesis supervisor.

Authorizing or withdrawing authorization for joint thesis supervision.

Authorizing research stays abroad for doctoral students.

Granting or denying travel grants for conference attendance.

Authorizing part-time doctoral studies.

Authorizing extensions of the thesis submission deadline.

Approving temporary leaves for doctoral students.

Annually assessing each student’s activities document and the thesis supervisor’s report.

Authorizing the submission of a doctoral thesis.
