Looking for Research Assistant - Cognitive Neuroscience; Spatial Navigation; EEG; Signal Processing

This is a research assistant opportunity to work in the Multisensory Research Group at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona

Applications are invited for a part-time (25 hours/week) research assistant position to contribute to our research on spatial navigation using EEG based BCI approaches. The project is led by Salvador Soto-Faraco, at the Center for Brain and Cognition -- Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona). The position is funded by the project ‘Multisensory Integration and Conflict’ from Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación (AEI-PID2019-108531GB-I00/AEI/10.13039/501100011033).

The position

We seek highly motivated candidates to collect behavioural and electrophysiological data in a study in human population during a spatial navigation task in virtual reality. In particular, the research assistant will: recruit subjects for the experiments, manage communication with subjects, prepare experimental materials for performing experiments in VR setup, collect behavioural and electrophysiological data, pre-process electrophysiological data and help with general dissemination and logistic tasks for the group.  Desirable expertise and skills: previous experience in human electrophysiological and behavioural data collection in a cognitive neuroscience lab, basic programming skills (Matlab, Python, R), experience in electrophysiological data pre-processing and analysis (classification), experience in real time, brain computer interface applications.

Conditions

The position is part-time (25 hours/week) and will be funded for 6 months (or until 31/12/23, whichever comes first).  Starting date: May 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter. Salary (gross before tax):  equivalent to 1.616,80 Eur. month (monthly pay + extraordinary wages). Remote working is not possible since the job requires laboratory work.

Eligibility

The candidate must be able to legally work in Spain.

The candidate needs to live in Barcelona or move to Barcelona to do the job.

Good communication skills in English (both written and spoken).
Basic communication skills in Spanish (to be able to recruit and communicate with subjects).
