Elena Larrauri is Professor of Criminal Law and Criminology at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona). She has been Fulbright scholar at the University of Santa Barbara, California, Alexander von Humboldt scholar at the University of Frankfurt and Visiting Fellow at the University of Oxford, All Souls College (2013-14). She is also past President of the European Society of Criminology (2007-2010). Her research interests are prison systems, criminal records, community sentences, and gender analysis of criminal justice system. She is founding member of the Criminology and Criminal Justice System Research Group. She has been Head of the Department of Law in the UPF (2016-2019), and is currently the lead researcher of the Excellence Network EmpiriC (2017) and Director of the Master in Criminology (2019-). She has been awarded a Doctorate Honoris Causa by the University of Pais Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea (July, 13th, 2022). Medal of Honor of the Generalitat for exceptional services to Justice (RESOLUTION JUS/3843/2024, of October 25th).
