Jaume Tarrus

I received the PhD degree in Theoretical Physics from the Universitat de Barcelona (UB) in 2012, graduating Cum Laude with International Doctor Mention. I was a doctoral researcher at UB and a visiting researcher at the University of California San Diego and Universität Bern. I subsequently held postdoctoral positions at the Universitat de Barcelona (2012–2013), Technische Universität München (2013–2017), the Institut de Física d'Altes Energies (2017–2020) as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie COFUND fellow, and Indiana University (2021–2022). I am the author of 22 peer-reviewed research articles, with close to 900 citations, and have delivered 25 talks at international conferences and workshops. Since March 2025, I hold a tenure-track (Lector) position in the Department of Engineering at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF).

My main research interests lie in the theoretical and phenomenological aspects of quantum field theory and particle physics. In particular, I focus on the description of nonrelativistic systems, such as low-energy QCD and QED, through systematic and rigorous approaches based on Effective Field Theories. I am also interested in numerical methods for quantum many-body systems, which provide powerful tools for investigating complex phenomena in theoretical physics.
