Research Statement: Similiar notions of universality have been discovered in spin physics, computer science, machine learning models and mathematical structures. What is their precise relation? And what is the relation to notions of unreachability such as uncomputability and undecidability? Extending these considerations to the linguistic or philosophical domain is more subtle, but equally interesting.
