Get up and running faster than ever before! With the help of EMERALD funding, Disguise has been able to integrate and deploy Netflix’s OpenVPCal tool for faster and more efficient calibration of colour displays, enabling teams to be able to set up their LED displays much more quickly than previous workflows. This will meet EMERALD’s goals of more energy conscious productions by cutting repeated calibration attempts while also making setup smoother for all of our users.

With the EMERALD project’s focus on more energy efficient workflows, we identified colour calibration as one area that could be improved significantly. Colour calibration can often be done multiple times before the user is happy with it, and each repeated attempt consumes a notable amount of power. OpenVPCal makes a number of improvements on our previous workflows, giving users more feedback than alternative methods, streamlining the process and cutting down on the power consumption of a user’s calibration phase while also getting them back to work much more efficiently.

We’re very pleased to get this result of the EMERALD project into the hands of our users and help contribute to making production more energy smart than ever before. OpenVPCal was released as a Designer plugin on the 4th of February, so try it out today!
