Waiting for Godot is a play by Samuel Beckett in which the protagonists wait for a Godot who never arrives. According to the author, a similar situation is unfolding with the reform of Spain’s regional financing system: it remains to be seen whether it will finally materialize or whether it will amount to little more than promises. López argues that the key issue is not so much the amount of resources being distributed, but rather how they are distributed and who ultimately bears the real cost of territorial solidarity. He also criticizes the process followed so far, which he considers insufficiently transparent and overly complex, raising the risk that the new model will solve few of the existing problems. The column concludes with a warning: a new political storm could quickly dissipate all the efforts and progress achieved to date.
