The column argues that economic analysis should serve to improve well-being, but points out that it often fails both in diagnosis and in the implementation of solutions, with stagnant indicators such as disposable income and productivity. It highlights social problems such as access to housing and healthcare, attributing them partly to a lack of political courage, but also to economic proposals that are too vague or unrealistic. In the case of housing, considered the main challenge, it criticizes current measures (such as subsidies or unambitious plans) as insufficient given the scale of the problem. The author proposes addressing it with greater territorial precision and better regulation of supply (not just increasing it), warning that without effective measures, rising prices will absorb any aid or wage increases and worsen inequality between those who have housing and those who do not.
