The project aims to document, analyse and reuse the images produced around one of the most decisive public events in Spain’s history, imbued with national, socio-economic and cultural meanings, and still highly present in contemporary Barcelona. It will carry out an in-depth analysis of the main mechanisms of visual representation of the Exhibition, both in its pavilions, shows and promotional materials, and in its record through photographs, newsreels, amateur films, photojournalism and caricatures. The project is structured around three interdisciplinary methodological axes: archival research and documentation; iconology, visual motifs and mapping techniques; and artistic and performative reappropriation. With the ambition of making an impact in the public sphere in view of the centenary of the Exhibition, it also seeks to generate actions of knowledge transfer and dissemination in collaboration with museums, associations and cultural centres in the Montjuïc area.
