Júlia Pérez Gonell is a PhD student at the Colectivo de Investigación Estética de los Medios Audiovisuales (CINEMA) research group at Pompeu Fabra University and Roma Tre University, with a scholarship to pursue a PhD at the Bibliotheca Hertziana – Max Planck Institute. She previously studied Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona, going on to obtain a Master’s degree in Art, Literature and Thought from Pompeu Fabra University. Her thesis, entitled "La inquietud del espectador: por una fenomenología de la pasividad", examined the condition of memory in the contemporary viewer. She has collaborated with cultural institutions such as the Real Academia de España en Roma, and has worked in the Filmoteca de Catalunya's exhibition and archive departments. Her main areas of research are the virtuality of the contemporary viewer and the dematerialisation of memory through new technologies, particularly focusing on the creation of narratives of resistance through the cinematic image.
