Research Outline

The Scientific IT core facility provides service to DCEXS labs and other UPF centers. The researchers are provided with a high-performance computing cluster for projects in next-generation sequence analysis, molecular dynamics, mathematical modeling, image analysis, proteomics, etc.

Services

The Department's cluster is a shared HPC (high-performance computing) environment serving the departmental research community with diverse research requirements.

Also, we have three different systems for data storage:

• A traditional NFS for generic use.

• A high-performance storage system (GPFS) for computing use.

• A cloud storage system for archive use.

These systems are connected with all our infrastructure.

Moreover, we offer different additional services:

• Installation of scientific software on our infrastructures.

• Bio-informatical support.

• Hosting of additional research systems within a virtual cluster system.

• Data center server maintenance.

• Installation of scientific machine equipment within our own facilities. This offer includes the maintenance of equipment as well as it's secure storage.
