Maria Lindmäe is a cultural geographer interested in public space, urban transformations, commodification through culture and music urbanism. Her doctoral thesis studied the production of space through rap music in Medellín, Colombia and she continues her work with the intersection of music as a community practice that produces shared city spaces. Her current research looks at the role of merchants and their mobility in the production of markets as contested public spaces.
