Junior campus: Hackers matemàtics a la xarxa

During the first week of July (30/06 - 04/07), the junior campus Hackers matemàtics a la xarxa was held for the tenth consecurit year. The aim of this course is to offer students from 3rd and 4th year of ESO (Compulsory Secondary Education), 1st year of High School, and vocational training programs the opportunity to explore key mathematical concepts that are essential to understand how security and privacy are ensured online today.
With all spots filled, students had the chance to learn — guided by two PhD mathematicians, Àngel García-Cerdaña and Núria Costa Mirada (a member of the Artemisa project) — how cryptography has evolved from ancient Rome to the present day, what mathematical tools lie behind encryption techniques, how online voting systems work, and the real threat posed by quantum computers.
We look forward to seeing you next year!
