Proyecto

This project aims to evaluate the result of such a process of constitution of associations from youth street groups, analyzing what worked and what failed. It will focus on the Spanish case, with in-depth case studies in the three territories where gangs have the greatest presence: Catalonia, Madrid and the Valencian Community. This case study will be compared with the Ecuadorian one, where the constitution of associations had the support of the government. In addition to these two central cases, two other contrasting cases will be investigated: El Salvador, where the "truce" with the gangs was successful in the short term, but ended up failing, and Italy, where the debate between legalization versus criminalization continues (Queirolo, 2016).

The aim of the project is to look back to these experiences of recognition, analyzing what has worked and what failed, and to look ahead, prefiguring future trends in the positive gang culture and the inclusive gang policies.
