LIPPS (Language Interaction in Plurilingual and Plurilectal Speakers). LIPPS is an iternational research group whose goal is to establish a free access digitalized database with bilingual data accessible to researchers, and to develop suitable standards for transcription and software that allow for the maximum exploitation and use of this database. LIPPS was founded in 1994 and in 2000 it published The LIDES Coding Manual, 'A Document for Preparing and Analysing Language Interaction Data', as a special issue in the International Journal of Bilingualism (Vol. 4, num. 2, June 2000; ISSN 1367-0069, London: Kingston Press). This manual was based on an already exiting system, CHILDES, applied to the analysis of children's language. M. Teresa Turell and Montserrat Forcadell were actives since the foundation of the group and they were co-authors of this manual.
NWAV (New Ways of Analysing Variation). NWAV is an international network that organizesannual conferences on sociolinguistic variation and it brings together researchers from all over the world.
ICLaVE (International Conference on Language Variation in Europe). ICLaVE gathers all the European researchers who focus on variation in international conferences. UVAL organized the first conference, which took place in Barcelona in 2000. M. Teresa Turell was a member of ICLaVE's scientific committee.
Associations
IAFL (International Association of Forensic Linguists). This association brings together forensic linguistics and language and law specialists from all over the world, who publish the results of their research in forensic linguistics and their participation in real cases as expert witnesses on the journal The International Journal of Speech, Language and the Law (known before as Forensic Linguistics). M. Teresa Turell was IAFL's secretary in Europe.
