Synopsis: Markets are often dirty places where corporate corruption is widespread. This six-part documentary illustrates this idea through six cases in different industries where corrupt practices were notorious The first episode, “Hard NOx”, is directed by Alex Gibney, and focuses on the Volkswagen emissions scandal. The second episode, “Payday”, is directed by Jesse Moss, and deals with Scott Tucker and payday loans in the USA. The third episode, “Drug Short”, is directed by Erin Lee Carr, and is about Valeant Pharmaceuticals). The fourth episode, “Cartel Bank”, is directed by Kristi Jacobson, and focuses on HSBC money laundering for the Sinaloa Cartel. The fifth episode, “The Maple Syrup Heist”, is directed by Brian McGinn, and deals with the Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers. Finally, the sixth episode, “The Confidence Man”, is directed by Fisher Stevens, and digs into Donald Trump’s businesses before his political race to the White House.
