Dr. Zenia Hellgren

Doctor of Sociology, Senior research fellow at GRITIM-UPF, Department of Political and Social Sciences, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona. PI of the REACT project.

Zenia Hellgren conducts her research on exclusion, inequalities, and the barriers and opportunities for inclusion and agency of migrants and racialized groups in European societies. She has published extensively in her field; most recently for instance Discrimination meets interculturalism in theory, policy and practice (in International Migration) and the book Racialized Citizenship in Superdiverse Europe. REACT is the third EU-funded research-action project addressing racism, discrimination, and inclusion/exclusion that she directs. 




 

Dr. Lorenzo Gabrielli

Doctor of Political Science, Senior Researcher at GRITIM-UPF.

Lorenzo Gabrielli's research focuses on borders and the dynamics of bordering, both at the internal level, in terms of discrimination, racism, and the dynamics of construction and perception of the ‘other’, and at the international level. Besides his role as researcher in REACT, currently, he is also the PI of the project “Connecting young defenders in the Mediterranean: understanding, networking and transforming” which aims at empowering racialized youth in Catalonia, Palestine, and Colombia.


 

Dr. Martin Lundsteen

Doctor of Social Anthropology, Beatriu de Pinós postdoctoral researcher, Department of Social Anthropology, University of Barcelona. Founder of OACU.

Martin Lundsteen has extensive experience investigating the various expressions that anti-Muslim racism can take. He has participated in several research projects in Catalonia on the subject and in the writing of an educational guide and several reports. He has also published a book and article on mosque conflicts, which has recently been translated into Spanish and English.


 

Ainhoa Nadia Douhaibi

Pedagogue and social educator, teacher at the Open University of Catalonia (UOC) and researcher at OACU.

Ainhoa Nadia Douhaibi conducts research on different forms of institutional racism, such as the lack of protection of children in the reception system, the deportation regime, and racial criminalization in policies to prevent radicalization. She is co-author of the book La Radicalización del Racismo. Islamofobia de Estado y prevención antiterrorista.


 

Pedro Casermeiro

Educational psychologist, coordinator of educational projects with Romani population and teachers at Rromane Siklovne.

Pedro Casermeiro has long experience carrying out different training courses for teachers in the field of cultural diversity and Romani people. Previously, he worked as a primary and secondary school teacher.
