Vladimir Estivill-Castro is currently director of the Department of Technology at Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) and professor at the same institution. He has worked professionally in Mexico, the United States, Australia, Spain, and Canada as a consultant, programmer, project leader, and teacher. He originally has a bachelor's degree in mathematics, but has a master's degree in education and a master's degree in mathematical sciences, as well as a doctorate in computer science. He is an expert in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Robotics, and Software Engineering. He is a Senior Member of the Association for Computing Machinery and the Institute for Electrical and Electronic Engineers. It has more than 200 scientific publications and several awards such as the best scientific article or the best robotic application in RoboCup.
