Rafael Ventura

Rafael Ventura, PhD in Communication, is Lecturer and Researcher at the Department of Communication of Pompeu Fabra University. He holds a Bachelor's in Advertising and Public Relations from the Universitat Jaume I (UJI), an International Master in Peace, Conflict and Development Studies from the same university, a Master in Social Communication from the University Pompeu Fabra (UPF) and a Postgraduate degree in Intercultural Relations and Management of Cultural Diversity ("La Caixa" Bank Foundation -UJI). He also furthered his studies of Communication at the Panteion University of Athens (Greece) and at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México (Mexico). He has been a visiting researcher at the San Francisco State University (United States), Universidad de Antioquia (Colombia) and University of Leicester (United Kingdom), funded by the National Mobility Program (MINECO). He has participated in research projects funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation. He teaches communication theory, media industries and audience trends in various universities. He has published in high-impact peer-reviewed-journals in the areas of gender and communication, LGBT/Queer media studies, communication theory and communication for social change. He has also presented papers at several international conferences arranged by prestigious organizations such as the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) held in India, or the International Association for the Study of Sexuality, Culture and Society (IASSCS), held in Ireland.
