PhD Candidate

Michael Mora is a PhD candidate, research staff in training (PIF) from the Deparment of Communication at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF). Graduated in Journalism from Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM), and Master's Degree in Social Communication Research (MUCS) from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF). In addition, he has been a visiting scholar at University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), and at Kobe University. 

His line of research is social interaction and interpersonal communication, working on conversation analysis on police border checks in La Jonquera-Le Perthus border area. He is also a member of CritiCC research group. Currently he is part of the research project MODACOM, "Mobile intimacy: studying the influence of dating apps on social and intimate-sexual relationships in Spain (2019-2021)", funded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities of the Government of Spain; and the project COMCRISIS, "Communication of crisis and emergencies in Social Media. Study of its use in Spain and design of information protocols for institutions and the media" financed by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities of the Government of Spain. He has also participated in the research project "Hate speech on social networks: Muslims and attacks in 17A", funded by the International Catalan Institute for Peace (ICIP).

Teaching experience: 

- Lecturer of Mass Media and Geopolitics, degree in Global Studies. 

- Lecturer of the Integrated Journalism Workshop and Diari de Barcelona, degree in Journalism.
