Seven researchers from Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) prepared the report "AI: Challenges and Opportunities for Parliaments and Public Authorities," commissioned by the Parliament's Advisory Council on Science and Technology (CAPCIT). The study was presented at the last CAPCIT session, held in the Group Room of the Parliament of Catalonia on Monday, May 19. The document addresses the opportunities and risks of using artificial intelligence (AI) in democracy, its regulation, and how it can be used in parliamentary circles from an interdisciplinary perspective. Therefore, it was prepared by researchers from three different UPF departments: Law, Communication, and Engineering.

The report brings together three independent studies in a single document entitled: "Democracy and Artificial Intelligence," "Artificial Intelligence in Parliaments and the Public Sector," and "Artificial Intelligence and Regulation." Each of these three chapters was presented in Parliament by the UPF researchers who prepared it, accompanied by the University's Vice-Rector for Research, Cristina Pujades. The names of the co-authors of each part of the report are detailed in the press release.
