POLCOM researchers will participate in the International Conference of the IAMCR 2019

Between 7 and 11 July, will be held at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) the annual conference of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR). On this occasion the program of the IAMCR Madrid 2019 is developed on the central theme: "Communication, Technology, and Human Dignity: Disputed Rights, Contested Truths" and aims to analyze the impact of the latest communication technologies in society, culture and human rights.

IAMCR is one of the international associations devoted to the development of media and communication research in general. Annually gathers a large number of researchers in this field of study. Within the framework of the next edition, six members of the POLCOM research group will participate with different communications that will be part of the following sessions of the congress: Woman, News and Politics; Exploring Populism; The nation and the political; Media and Representations; Ethical perspectives in Journalism.

 

The communications that POLCOM researchers will present are the following:

“Political woman in the news. An analysis from a gender perspective discourse in the Spain´s female- majority cabinet”: Cristiana Perales-García and Carles Pont-Sorribes.  

“What´s in a Vox? Analysis of the Spanish far- right populist party VOX in Twitter”: Frederic Guerrero-Solé and Luis Mas-Manchón. 

“We must bring out the best in ourselves to get over difficulties: Responses to narratives of resilience and entrepreneurship in post-recession Spain”: Mercè Oliva, Óliver Pérez-Latorre and Reinald Besalú

“Over to you, George: Catalonia in the Anglo- American news weeklies -Economist, Time and Newsweek- during the Spanish Transition to democracy (1975-82)”:  Christopher Tulloch

“A disconnect from media accountability? Spanish journalists and citizens perceptions of in-house traditional and innovative instruments”: Xavier Ramon, Marcel Mauri, Jesús Díaz del Campo and Ruth Rodríguez.
