The POLCOM-GRP group welcomes two new members

The doctoral students of the POLCOM-GRP group, Roger Cuartielles and Guillem Lloret, have obtained pre-doctoral training grants with which they will be able to accompany teaching experiences and academic activities on the way to the elaboration of their thesis.

The POLCOM-GRP research group welcomes PhD students Roger Cuartielles and Guillem Lloret, who have been integrated as new members of the group thanks to the pre-doctoral fellowships they have obtained.

The group coordinator, Cristina Perales, points out that profiles like Roger and Guillem's bring dynamism to the group and the possibility of having two people who live and experience academic life more intensely, while combining their research with the dynamics of the group and/or the Communication department.

Roger Cuartiellesholds a degree in Journalism from UPF (2017) and Humanities (UPF, 2019), as well as a master's degree in Communication Research (UPF, 2022), a master's degree in Journalism and Digital Communication: Data and New Narratives (UOC, 2022) and a master's degree in Teacher Training (UVic, 2021). Currently, Roger is developing as a professor and predoctoral researcher in the Department of Communication with a Joan Oró grant, awarded by the Generalitat de Catalunya for the recruitment of research staff in training.

Roger Cuartielles' lines of research include disinformation and the fact-checking phenomenon linked to artificial intelligence, as well as crisis communication and political communication. Thanks to his profile, he is a member of competitive research projects such as COMCRISIS and FACCTMedia. In addition, he is part of the Platform for Media Education of Catalonia of the Consell de l'Audiovisual de Catalunya (CAC) and collaborates with the platform against disinformation Learn to Check as a transfer initiative. In the field of journalism, Roger has worked in media such as Diari Ara and Europa Press.

On the other hand, Guillem Lloret has a degree in Audiovisual Communication and a master's degree in Teacher Training in Catalan Language and Literature at UPF with a stay at Queen Mary University. He has also completed the MOOC The Art of Persuasive Writing and Public Speaking (HarvardX MOOC) and Framing Your Communication to Inspire and Convince at DelftX MOOC.

Professionally, Guillem has worked as head of press and protocol for the Delegation of the Government of Catalonia in Girona, as a freelance communications consultant and has carried out several communication and advertising campaigns for various companies and administrations. He has also collaborated with the University of Barcelona, giving lectures and advising on communication issues. Guillem's lines of research focus on political discourse analysis, political communication and cultural studies.
