The Open Forums were meeting spaces for strategic discussion and reflection. They provided all members of the university community with the opportunity to reflection upon and define what kind of UPF we want for the future. The result of these days and of all other participation spaces were collected and drawn up into a final report.

When?

  • 4 June on the Ciutadella campus (11:30-14:00)
  • 9 June on the Poblenou campus (11:30-14:00)

Who were they for?

They were designed for the entire university community (PAS, PDI, students & Alumni)

What topics were discussed?

In the Open Forums, three strategic areas were discussed:

1. The university as a transmitter and creator of knowledge and culture

In this forum, ideas were debated such as how the university can now open its doors to society and fulfill its vocation as a public service; what role knowledge transfer should have  in the coming years or how UPF can become an agent of economic, political, social and cultural change for our society (considering the university as a space for creation and innovation).

2. Future Learning

The future of further education was discussed and we talked about what direction UPF’s teaching and learning model should take in the coming years, what competences and skills students must be trained in, in order for them to go on to be good professionals, as well as good citizens with a commitment to society, or what academic professionals and what kind of management will be needed to develop this educational model.

3. Campus, spaces and services

Issues related with the daily running of the university, its spaces and services were discussed. The question, for example, was raised as to how we imagined the Campus and infrastructure of UPF in 10 years’ time, or what services will be necessary for the university of the future (in response to the emerging needs of the university community and society).
