Raquel Bouso has a PhD in Humanities from Pompeu Fabra University (2005), with a thesis on the notion of emptiness in the Japanese philosopher Keiji Nishitani, where she is an untenured adjunct professor of Philosophy. She is the author of several articles on Japanese culture, philosophy and religion, as well as of the Zen monograph (Fragmenta, cat. 2009, cast. 2012) and co-editor of Frontiers of Japanese Philosophy, 6. Cross-currents and Confluences (NIRC, 2009) and The Japanese Philosophy in its Texts (Herder, 2016). She is a member of the scientific committee of the "Library of Japanese Studies" collection of Edicions Bellaterra, of the "Japan" collection of the UAM and of the editorial board of the series "Tetsugaku Companions of Japanese Philosophy" by Springer. She is a member of the Bibliotheca Haas Research Group (2014 SGR 1631), the International Association of Japanese Philosophy (IAJP), the directive council of the European Network of Buddhist Christian Studies (ENBCS) and co-founder of the European Network of Japanese Philosophy (ENOJP). She currently directs the R&D project MINECO EXCELLENCE "Topological thought in Japan" (FFI2015-65662-P).
