The selection committee, formed by three professors from the Department of Law, is responsible for the selection of the candidates. The selection criteria is:

  • Academic background, preferably in Law, and the academic transcript.
  • Adequacy of the candidate profile to the objectives and content of the programme.
  • General adaptation of the candidate profile at the aims and contents of the master’s.
  • Interest and motivation of the candidate (motivation letter).
  • Professional, research or teaching background (curriculum vitae).
  • Letters in support of the candidate from university professors or professionals. 
  • The selection committee will make the admissions according to the admissions calendar.

MANDATORY DOCUMENTS* (digital format)

In order to be admitted to the Master in Legal Sciences candidates must submit the following documents:  

  • Official university bachelor's or master's degree from the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) or equivalent foreign degree allowing access to a postgraduate degree in the country that issued the degree. Should the applicant have not finished yet their studies at the time of application, they will be asked to sign a statement certifying that they will have completed them before the start of the master degree program. 

    Qualifications can be in the following academic areas: social sciences and law.
  • Academic transcript of the accredited official training with the average grade at the university of origin.
  • Curriculum Vitae in Spanish or Catalan.
  • A letter of motivation in Spanish or Catalan, stating the candidate's interest in following the master's programme (400 to 600 words).
  • For those candidates whose native language is not Spanish or have not studied in that language, it is necessary to submit a B2 of Spanish level certification  (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), in addition the academic direction may decide to interview the candidate.
  • Identity Card or Passport.
     

OPTIONAL DOCUMENTS

  • English language (level B2), Catalan language (level B2)  or  other foreign languages certification (only official certificates are accepted).
  • Undergraduate degree in Law.
  • At least two letters of recommendation.
  • Professional experience in any of the fields related to the master's programme.
  • Research experience.
  • Teaching experience.
  • Additional academic training in areas related to the master's programme.
  • Additional professional experience.

In addition, the Departments' selection committee may decide to interview the candidate.

*If it is necessary, additional documents can be requiered. During the enrolment, in September, orginal documents have to be submitted.

The undergraduate degree/diploma and the academic transcript 

If you have finished your Bachelor degree when you formalise your application, you will need to send us the following documents:

  • A photocopy of your undergraduate degree/diploma or Certification/proof of degree completion.
  • A photocopy of your official final undergraduate transcript.

However, if you have not yet completed your undergraduate studies when formalising application, you will need to provide us with the following documents:

  • A signed declaration of obtaining your degree before the commencement of the master's programme.
  • A photocopy of the provisional undergraduate transcript. 
If the diploma or the academic transcript are not written in Catalan, Spanish, English, French, Portuguese or Italian, you will also have to include the respective sworn translations into Catalan or Spanish.
