On March 9, UPF will held the expected ceremony of doctor honoris causa for Angela Y. Davis, the emeritus professor of the Department of History of Consciousness of the University of California Santa Cruz since 2008. Her multifaceted trajectory as a philosopher, great activist for human rights and against discrimination of all kinds, feminist and abolitionist of the penitentiary system, means that her work, among other disciplines, has an impact on the world of law. In this area, the following monographs should be highlighted: Are Prisons Obsolete? (2003); Mujeres, Raza y Clase (2004); Democracia de la abolición: prisiones, racismo y violencia (2016); y Podemos abolir las prisiones? (2020).

Taking the opportunity of this recognition, we invite both faculty and students of the Faculty of Law to discover and delve into their work, and to celebrate this well-deserved award ceremony of a great activist and thinker.
