Biography note

Monica Figueras Maz holds a doctorate in journalism from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) and two graduate degrees in Sociology and Information Sciences from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Since 1998, she has worked in the Department of Communication at the UPF, where she teaches journalism and sociology particularly regarding issues such as consumption and youth issues, at both an undergraduate and postgraduate level. She is the coordinator of the research group on Youth, Society, and Communication, JOVIS, and she coordinates the Masters programme in Youth and Society organised by the University of Girona. She has participated in competitive research projects on the image of youth in the media, reception studies involving young people and media, and education in communication and participation.
