Laura Acosta has a degree in Translation and Interpretation from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (2008) and a Master's Degree in Teacher Training in Spanish as a Foreign Language (2013), taught jointly at the University of Barcelona and the Pompeu Fabra University. She is currently studying the PhD program in Translation and Language Sciences, with a thesis on interactional competence in Spanish as a second language, under the direction of Dr. Carmen López Ferrero and Dr. Maria Dolors Cañada.

Her research focuses on interactional competence, oral interaction in the teaching of Spanish as a second language and conversation analysis. She is a member of the Gr@el research group, in which she participates in the ECODAL project.

As far as teaching is concerned, she teaches at the degrees in Translation and Interpretation and Applied Languages ​​since the academic year 2014-2015, in which she has taught subjects such as Spanish Language, University Introduction and Communication, and also at the Program Languages and Cultures in Contemporary Spain, where she has taught the subject Spanish Speaking Workshop (courses 2015 to 2017).
