JOVIS at the 2nd International Children and Youth Perspectives Conference in Prague

On September 19, JOVIS researchers took part in the 2nd International Children and Youth Perspectives Conference, organized by the European ERC WONDRE project and hosted by the Institute of Communication Studies and Journalism at Charles University on the Hybernská Campus, Prague. The biennial conference has become an interdisciplinary forum gathering academics, policymakers, and practitioners working with children and youth through participatory and rights-based approaches. The 2025 theme, “What Persists?”, invited reflection on aspects of young people’s lived experiences that remain ongoing, overlooked, or underexplored in research and policy.
In her keynote lecture, JOVIS coordinator Macarena García-González explored the methodological possibilities of a childist approach in cultural studies of childhood, challenging adultist or adultocentric thinking.
In addition, researchers María José Palacios Esparza, Mittzy Arciniega Cáceres, and Macarena Vallejos Cox led a practical workshop on Participatory Audiovisual Methodology (PAM), a tool designed to co-create knowledge with young people through audiovisual media.
JOVIS’s participation in this international forum underscored the group’s commitment to critical research on youth and childhoods in diverse global contexts, contributing to interdisciplinary dialogue and advancing more inclusive practices and policies.
