UPF as partner of the SLYMS project "Sociocultural Learning of Youth in Mobile Societies", participates with two conferences at the congress, which are in charge of Mittzy Arciniega: Transgang, Chief and AJOVE, and SLYMS Ethnographic Findings- Vulnerable Youth's Values ​​& Attitudes.

The focus of the conference is on social inclusion of disadvantaged mobile young people through informal and non-formal education. Effective education of displaced, disadvantaged, and marginalized young populations should be based on informal and non-formal learning models that add to formal education and stand on the values of mutual acceptance and understanding, intercultural sensitivity, solidarity, cooperativeness, and on the right to cultural and linguistic diversity. Exploring the differences as well as the similarities between countries and localities and how young people experience and deal with their own situation, culture, work and education lie at the heart of this conference.

The Conference is organised within SLYMS (Sociocultural Learning of Youth in Mobile Societies, http://slyms.uth.gr/) funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.

The venue is the Lab of Sociology of Education (http://socedu.ece.uth.gr/index.php/en/), which is located in the main campus of the University of Thessaly (UTh) in Volos. In the organization of the conference are also involved the Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona, Spain), and more specifically the Centre of Youth, Society and Communication Studies and the Network on Youth and Society Studies. Moreover, ARSIS, a Greek N.G.O., which deals with the support and service of young people from vulnerable social settings, and Conversas Associação Internacional (CAI, NGO), which involves in Youth, Non- Formal Education, and Adult Education, and finally the Municipality of Thessaloniki through the section of Education & Sport.
