Children, Youth and Media of the Master in International Studies in Media, Power and Difference - PlaClik
During the first quarter, the subject Children, Youth and Media of the Master in International Studies in Media, Power and Difference, given by the professors Mònica Figueras-Maz and Mittzy Arciniega-Caceres, received the support of the Plan of Support for Quality and Innovation in Learning and Knowledge 2023-2024 (PlaClik) for the implementation of the teaching project Research-based learning and Service-Learning through the Photovoice technique.
Within the framework of the teaching project, the students explored the possibilities of participatory action research (PAR) and the audiovisual participatory methodology, designing and implementing a research project that aimed to identify and investigate social problems that affect childhood and youth and approach it from the perspective of IAP; that is, breaking the hierarchies between those who investigate and those who are investigated, and providing participants with an active role in making research decisions.
In addition, the students participated in a practical workshop that guided the application of the participatory audiovisual methodology and allowed them to capture the results and reflections in audiovisual pieces, some of which we share below:
