The JOVIScom Research Group invites the academic community to the Workshop on Ethnography and Practice by Professor Shane Blackman, Editor of the International Journal of Youth Studies and YOUNG: the Nordic Journal of Youth Research

 

Professor Shane Blackman has undertaken and completed funded research for the Home Office, London Health Authorities, the Kent Constabulary, Medway City Council and Kent Social Services on social and cultural processes, including secondary schools, youth training, popular music, youth cultures, drug prevention and education, youth homelessness, gender and domestic violence and deviance.

He is the author of Chilling Out: the cultural politics of substance consumption, youth and drug policy, Open University Press, 2004, the editor of 'The Subcultural Imagination: Theory, Research and Reflexivity in Contemporary Youth Cultures,' Routledge, 2016, with Michelle Kempson, editor of Youth Marginality in Britain: contemporary studies of austerity. Policy Press, 2017 with Ruth Rogers.  
He is an Editor of the International Journal of Youth Studies and also an Editor of YOUNG: the Nordic Journal of Youth Research. Shane is also a member of the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC): Peer Review College. Finally, he has Examined 22 Ph.D and also Supervised 18 PhDs research students to successful completion.
